πŸ‹Review of Secret Key Lemon Sparkling Peeling GelπŸ‹

πŸ‹I love a good gommage-type exfoliator. Although they are messy, I love the satisfaction those small balls of dead skin, debris & yuck give me when they form. Yes, I know that not all of that is dead skin & debris, but some of it is! If I want to do some manual exfoliating, this type of exfoliator is more gentle on my sensitive skin than a sugar scrub. I use this product 1-2 times per week & it helps keep my skin clear & blackhead & whitehead free. After rinsing this product off of my skin, my skin feels softer & oh so smooth. It does not make my skin feel tight or dry. My skin appears brighter & glowy for a day or two after I use this gel. I have not had any irritation or other adverse effects, even with sensitive skin. In general, gommage-type exfoliators are good for those of us who tend to over-exfoliate (ahem… that would be me).

πŸ‹How do gommage-type exfoliators work? The term gommage is a French term meaning literally β€œto erase”. For those of you new to peeling gels/gommage you apply a small amount of product, rub into your face and slowly, the product produces small balls. These products exfoliate by clinging to outermost dead skin cells, rolling them away in little balls. This is one of my favorite forms of manual exfoliation because these products typically combine a gentle enzyme (for a little chemical exfoliation) with a gentle manual exfoliator (the little balls provide manual exfoliation). Even though my skin is sensitive and often angry 😑, I can use a peeling gel with no irritation.
