Ouch! Once again, Iβve gone a bit crazy with exfoliation (melasma, I banish you to the hell from which you originated!). I did a 55% lactic acid peel from makeupartistschoice.com and for some reason, it really caused a lot of peeling this time. Iβve used this peel, in this strength, a number of times and have had very little peeling. Iβm excited to see the peeling, trust me, but right now Iβm dealing with redness and sensitivity. So, I decided to turn to my trusty, soothing Skinfood Fresh Aloe Pack. I love this mask for a number of reasons.

β£
π±This cooling mask has a milky, translucent jelly-like consistency. It also has little nubs in it. It smells a little like paste, but the scent is very faint and is not noticeable when the mask is on the skin. I love how cooling, hydrating, refreshing and soothing this mask is. It is perfect for my hydroquinone and Tretinoin treated skin. Oh yeh, did I mention that I, stupidly, did not back off of my Tretinoin or hydroquinone pre or post peel? Eh, Iβm a glutton for punishment π. Actually, Iβm just zealously trying to rid my face of melasma.
π±Anyway, back to the mask. I use this redness alleviating mask when I am experiencing extreme dryness, irritation or redness from treatment. I leave this mask on for much longer than the directions state as I find that it amplifies the benefits of this mask. In fact, I have left this on overnight or all day when I am staying in for the day. Leaving the mask on longer or applying a thick layer makes my skin look plump as if Iβd completed all the steps of my skincare routine. This mask makes my skin feel softer, smoother & more elastic. It almost immediately takes the heat out of my cheeks. I use this in rotation with the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber π₯ Gel Mask which I will review soon. I trust Skinfood to produce a nice quality mask for a reasonable price & this mask does not disappoint. The only complaint I have about this mask is the packaging. Itβs cute enough, but itβs cumbersome. It comes in a jar that is somewhat inconvenient & potentially unhygienic (is that a word? Is it non-hygienic?). The jar also puts the mask at risk of losing itβs effectiveness through exposure to the air. I wish this mask came in a squeeze tube, but alas, I canβt have everything I want π. This product retails for $11.20 at toktokbox.com. I purchased mine from Amazon, but it is no longer in stock there. β£I hear tell that this is available at Ulta, but itβs not in stock at either Ulta store in Birmingham. I have also seen this mask on eBay for under $10.

π±This mask is a hydrating & relaxing wash-off facial mask. It features a refreshing jelly texture. It is rich in aloe vera extract for hydrating, soothing & anti-inflammatory properties. It is packed with vitamins & minerals to replenish skin with nutrients. It leaves skin calm, smooth & revitalized with a healthy glow. β£

π±To use this mask, apply evenly to dry face & massage for 30 seconds. Rinse skin thoroughly with lukewarm water after 5-6 minutes. β£
π±I recommend this mask if, like me, you suffer from rosacea, redness, sensitivity or flushing. I soothes my inflamed skin quickly. If my skin is particularly irritated like it is right now, I will pop this mask in the fridge for a few hours prior to using it. It feels sooo good on my hot skin! π§ π₯Ά
π±Have you tried this mask? Have you tried other Skinfood masks? What is your favorite soothing mask? Iβd love to hear your opinions in the comments below.
